"By the time I was 40, my two sons had left home. I'd started in my early 20's having babies, which was the thing to do back in the early 70's. No one waited to get that big career started in my circle of friends. We couldn't wait to start having babies and I was no exception. (There was at least a dozen baby boys and one girl in our Church nursery and the Mom's were in their early 20's.)

When my sons left home there was a big void and I was surprised that the "empty nest" was indeed a true, depressing syndrome. It was at this point I decided to get to work full-time. My oldest son had had terrible asthma for years and I couldn't keep any hours at work as he was constantly in the hospital. So now it was time to get to work! Of course it took me at least 10 years to get to the good stuff work when I happened into an Internet business. Who knew?!

Life goes on and suddenly one of my sons and his wife are pregnant. My hubby and I had no idea what to expect. And in fact it became the biggest blessing in our lives... the adorable baby girl that become the center of family. Sitting at my computer all day suddenly was not an option... I needed to get in shape so that I could crawl around on the floor with the little darling. I would come home from my children's place exhausted and exhilarated at the same time. If anyone would have told me that this was a future reward for having kids I would have been happy to get to my 50's much more quickly! Then, good news came three years later when a grandson was on the way. Happy happy happy! (See Snoopy dancing with glee in this scenario.) And he's a beautiful baby boy and very sweet like my sons were.

If anyone would have told me in my early years of having kids that one of the biggest rewards of raising a family was that I'd get to see them raise their own, I would have died and gone to Heaven. Every year that goes by, and they go by more quickly as I get older, I have a huge smile on my face and the warmth of love in my heart for the precious gift of grandchildren.
